Self Learning and Importance of Coaching

When I saw back into my past, I feel what is lost due to absence of proper coaching.  Where I stand today is no doubt a great achievement, both at personal as well as on professional level.

Whole of my life is full of self-learning.  I started working while my result of Diploma in Commerce (D.Com) was awaited.  I stayed alone without my parents or guardian miles away from my home.  It was some divine power that always guided me.  I learned Short Hand, did graduation (in Arts subjects) as private candidate and tried Masters (Political Science).  I also try to be a Homeo Doctor and so on.  Look at it; does it make any connection with my current profession, IT?  No!

It is common problem with most of young guys, especially ones like me who came to big cities with some level of education and start working there.  Our education system does not provide any sort of professional coaching.  When we start working, we come across many professionals, i.e. Accounting, HR, IT, Marketing, Sales etc. etc.

People like me become fascinated by the progress people from these fields have made.  However, we forget that if someone has got accolade in his/her professional, behind it is focused struggle of many years, structured education, guidance and learning through experience.

Had I have proper coaching, focused education, proper training, I would have been where I’m today a long while ago.  Nevertheless, I thanks in million to Almighty Allah for keeping me on right path and saved going astray.

So for anyone who is self-learner, it’s my message.  Self-learning is no doubt a great spirit.  However, if it’s done under professional guidance, it can bear fruits much earlier than anticipated.

In the end, choose your friends carefully and wisely.  The circle of friends has ever lasting impact on what you are and what you want to be!

Management Style, which one you are?

We all have to different phases of our life.  And in some capacity, we all have some sort of leadership and managerial roles, either at home or at office.

Do we ever wonder what kind of leader or manager we are.  Personally, I've been to various roles and worked under leadership of visionary people.  I learned and follow the leadership/management style of my ex-bosses.  But its' not enough for me as I'm not the soul who can be satisfied by something lesser.  I believe every process in life has tremendous chance of improvement so why should I not try?

I searched Google for management styles and found very good articles like :

6 management styles and when best to use them – The Leaders Tool Kit

Leadership Styles

However, I like a style where people are encouraged to take initiatives, delegation of power is horizontally and vertically aligned,  accountability, credibility and ethics are norm of the business.

I also observe Nature's way of management.  Have anybody done that?  I wonder how a unfathomable universe if being managed?  Trillions of starts, billions of planetary movements each day, Sun, Moon, Starts, weather everything follows certain rule (SOPs) scripted by the Almighty Allah.  Every things moves in its own orbit, follows SOPs, Sun rises and sets at given times (both in winter and summer) and follow its route to set-in, Moon, Stars and every single object has its' own orbit and moves within it.

Nature's style of management has been working since trillions of years without conflict.  It's best and we can follow to same to create harmony, team work and human development.

Digital Age and risks

We are living in information age. Almost every thing depends on digital information, is it not so? We are flooded with various type of devices from various kind of 'smart devices'.

Companies are working hard to get most out of this digital age and are coming up with latest gadgets that, of course, are not making our daily life easy but somehow complex as well. Recently Panasonic has come up with latest appliances that can be controlled by Android based devices, literally from any where in the world :-).

So we all are running on digital highway. So far so good. But this all has some 'dark side' as well. Bad guys (known as hackers) are also on this 'digital highway' and are constantly looking for 'loopholes' left unwilling some where to exploit. So it becomes absolute necessary to keep ourselves safe from the bad guys.

But how? This is a question worth millions. First of all, be conscious. Use of common sense (that we normally don't like to use :-) while using the internet. Be very very careful while revealing 'personal information' on the web, i.e. on Social Networking sites. Avoid to share personal and family information (like photos, video) on these sites.

Most important of all the digital assets is email.  It contains both personal and professional records that are of paramount importance for all of us.  In corporate world, users are provided training about how to protect their email and data.  But most of the home users are not aware of it.  I found an interesting article and would like my audience of read and follow it.  The link is http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2012/10/31/how-to-report-a-computer-crime-unauthorised-email-account-access/?utm_source=Naked+Security+-+Sophos+List&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=a39d744fd3-naked%252Bsecurity (Copy and paste in your browser).

Make yourself great!

OK, let's talk about the most killing factor in personal development.  I'm not guru on the subject nor hold any professional degree in it but have learnt "something" through the experience and observation.  Even everyone can see people around who are most talented but have some "inner fear" to take some steps to show their guts.
Folks, all people are created equally.  Everyone has equal 24 hours available in a day, we all breath in same air, share the same sun and environment.  But the difference between a common person and an un-common is who takes benefit of these available resources.  Ones who accept the challenges that life offers them are successful as compared to those who remain in their shell of self-claimed 'protective zone' or 'complex'.
So, look at yourself and compare how do you see the life and face the challenges.  Until next time, take care and keep smiling :-)
